A "discovery" is an entertainment file that has become available for sharing in any of over fifteen different Peer to Peer networks. A "discovery" can be a music file, a video file, a book or manual, a computer software program or a video game. The BarBann system separates these different files into different top ten lists.

Everybody seems to rank the top of any list they compile. Baseball league leaders in Batting, Billboard Magazine's famous chart of music titles, Late night talkshow host's observations of life, and the list goes on and on. We are no different and we produce top ten weekly discoveries for the discoveries that we compile each week. The BarBann system produces a National Chart, Eight regional charts, and charts for each of the different type of source location (Government Location, Public Access, Major Corporation, Corporation, Dial up Individual, BroadBand Individual, or Educational Location). Below is a template for the format of the report "Top 10 Weekly Discoveries". The ending date of each report appears in the heading of the report. The Title of the "discovery" is a data smoothed version of the name that would appear on the Peer to Peer trading systems. Thus Sk8ter and Skater are understood to be the same Title. The Artist of the "discovery" is identified and correctly translated from the P2P world to a normalized data identity. Thus Bridge over Troubled Waters by the Beatles is understood to be Bridge over Troubled Waters by Simon and Garfunkle. This Weeks quantities are pure census counts with no extrapolation, no weighting, no smoke and mirrors. Last week quantities are the same basic straight forward numbers.
